I've read a fair number of memoirs and biographies in my time, and by far, it's my favorite nonfiction genre to delve into. It's fascinating to delve into the experiences of someone's life, and that remains true for celebrities. So here are some of my favorite celebrity memoirs you should definitely add to your TBR.

We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story by Simu Liu

Simu Liu rose to prominence when he portrayed the titular character in MCU movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Throughout his memoir, Liu shares personal and heartfelt accounts of his life spanning childhood, family relationships, and experiences as an immigrant. He captures the struggles of becoming an actor, and the jubilation when one finally breaks into the industry. Simu Liu's memoir brings to life the beauty of dreaming and the joy of accomplishing those dreams. He also narrates the audiobook, which I felt enhanced the experience of his story!

Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show by Bethany Joy Lenz

This was an anticipated read for me when I learned it was coming out since I was a big fan of One Tree Hill. Lenz spends most of the novel focused on her experience being in a cult, so there are some mentions and experiences of the OTH set, but it is very much secondary. Bethany Joy Lenz conveys her vulnerabilities throughout her early life to showcase why she was susceptible to this path; the main point of the novel is to explain what a cult can be, why they're dangerous, and who can be a target.

Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah expertly recalls his experiences growing up in South Africa in the 1980s being mixed race when apartheid was still legal. Throughout the novel, we follow along with him as he experiences life never quite feeling stable or fitting in. Noah delves into the political realities of the time, his experiences navigating personhood, and the familial complexities he experienced. This memoir expansively captures a range of topics that are informative and impactful.

Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton

Dolly Alderton is a journalist and writer, who has a few books in her catalog. Everything I Know About Love is a personal piece taking bits and anecdotes from her life to reflect different stages, experiences, and struggles. She touches on everything: including romance, friendship, loss, family, aging, and profession. Alderton captures the beauty of life in its complexities, triumphs, and hardships.
