It is winter, and that means that it is cold outside for a lot of us. And even if you are looking to warm things up inside, there is something to be said about reading hockey romances. So what if you could combine a little bit of heat with that hockey love?
We wanted to pick some hockey romances that not only delivered on the romance, but also brought the heat. And while there are plenty of these romances to choose from, we decided to stick to five our current favorites.
So what are our five favorite hockey romances with heat? Check it out.
5 Hockey Romances that also bring the heat
Pack Plus Three by Melissa Huxley
I have to say that this omegaverse story had me from the minute I read the blurb. I loved that this was a non-shifting pack story with a star hockey player and a pregnant omega who can't resist the smells from her neighbors kitchen. The romance feels like it develops naturally, even as it does have those elements of instant-love. Somehow it all just works. And this was entertaining and a great start to a series that is technically all stand-alone books within the same world.
He's So Slick by Sinclair Kelly
This is another non-shifting omegaverse book, and it was so good. It was another fabulous start to a series and it really brought the hockey to the table. Not only did we have our leading lady, who was the daughter of a hockey team owner, but we also had the hockey players. And it definitely brought the heat. There was plenty of drama and hurt feelings, while also giving us romance that worked. It had its moments, but overall this was a four out of five star read for me.
Good Pucking Luck by Riley Hart
This gay romance brings the heat and the drama. It also starts with the most insane breakup after one of our leading men proposes to his boyfriend at a hockey game, leading to being turned down and learning that his man apparently was dating a lot of other people. This moment goes viral but also gets him a night with a star hockey player. And this hockey star ends up playing such a good game after they get together that he decides he might just need their one-night stand to continue in order for him to win the cup. This book is so entertaining and yes, it delivers on the spice.
Weak Side by S.J. Sylvis
This book by S.J. Sylvis was very interesting because it used the idea of fake dating to bring these two characters together. We have a hockey player trying to get into the NHL, who decides that he needs someone to fake date him to keep the puck bunnies away. For her, it’s about making her ex realize he made a bad decision. But the longer these two play at fake dating, the more they realize how good they are together. And we get to watch what starts out fake become something more. Yes this has the spice and it has the drama. It’s definitely worth reading in 2025.
Bad Intentions by Mila Kane
This was another four out of five star read, featuring a bad boy who masquerades as the golden boy. She is the coach's daughter, and he’s the star hockey player. There is a lot going on in this book because we definitely have a bully romance, with dark elements, but lots of spice. It is set in a high school, making it more of a new adult romance, but there is heat to this story. This one is definitely not for everyone, but it hooked me from beginning to end. And it kicked off a series that definitely brought the heat and the darkness.
