Belladonna by Adalyn Grace: Series Review

CLIFFORD OTO/THE STOCKTON RECORD / USA TODAY NETWORK

If you are a lover of romantasy books featuring a gothic atmosphere and a breathtaking romance, the Belladonna series by Adalyn Grace is a must-add to your TBR. Adalyn wrote the most whimsical and deliciously dark trilogy that is perfect for spooky season and will have you yearning for more. I recently finished Wisteria—the third and final book in the trilogy—and I absolutely adored the series as a whole.

Belladonna, which is book one in the series, follows Signa Farrow, an orphaned girl with a mysterious link to Death—both the concept and the embodiment. With the help of Death himself, Signa must solve a mystery to save the lives of her family—and simultaneously avoid the attraction she can’t deny she feels towards Death. Adalyn did an amazing job at building the world in a way that wasn’t overly complicated while also introducing us to characters. She incorporated a strong plotline that was so enjoyable to read and easy to digest. Belladonna was such a strong start to the trilogy!

Foxglove, which is the second book in the series, introduces us to the character of Fate, a handsome man with a sharp tongue—who also happens to be Death’s brother and is hellbent on bringing him nothing but pain and sorrow. With the life of yet another family member on the line, Signa and her cousin, Blythe, must play into Fate’s hands while simultaneously dealing with their own betrayals. Described as a story that is “as equally romantic as it is perfectly deadly,” this sequel is sure to have you on the edge of your seat—I know I was!

Wisteria, the third and final book in the trilogy—is a change from the first two books in the series because we get Blythe as the main character, rather than Signa. This book follows Blythe as she navigates her new life as a bride in a marriage she absolutely does not want any part in—and that is the only thing her and her new husband can agree on. If you love a true enemies-to-lovers story with insane banter and a morally gray man you can’t help but fall in love with, you will love the conclusion to this trilogy as much as I did.

Belladonna is easily one of my favorite trilogies of all time, and I truly can’t wait to see what Adalyn writes next. For fans of the Belladonna trilogy, she did recently announce a holiday novella that I can’t wait for! If you decide to give this one a shot or you’re already a fan, I hope this series burrows itself a special place in your heart like it did for me.
