James Patterson might be known for his thrillers, middle school-aged fiction books, and some really iconic characters, but there is more to the author than just his words. There is also his actions to consider.
Just in time for the holidays, Patterson has gifted hundreds of bookstore workers with a bonus of $500 each. In fact, according to AP News, the bestselling author actually gifted 600 booksellers with this bonus. And this is not the first time that he has done this.
Every year since 2015, it seems that James Patterson gifts booksellers with a bonus to help them through the holiday season. And if that doesn't make you love the author a little bit more, we don't know what will.
James Patterson gifted $500 each to 600 booksellers ahead of the holidays
In a statement released through his publisher, Patterson opened up about his gift to booksellers. The author shared that, "Booksellers save lives. Period. Iām happy to be able to acknowledge them and all their hard work this holiday season."
So how are the booksellers chosen to get the bonus money? Apparently it is through a nomination process. The different booksellers are nominated by customers and co-workers.
While it is clear that James Patterson is very generous with his money just based on his gifting $500 bonuses to booksellers, that is not the only way that he has given back over the years. The author is also well-known for his contributions to literacy programs, libraries, and schools. In fact, he has actually won an award for his services to the literary community, in part due to his generosity.
There is no denying that James Patterson is a brilliant author, but clearly he is also a good person and someone who wants to make a difference in the world. And whether it is by giving money to booksellers during the holidays or donating to literary programs, he is definitely doing his part to support the arts.
