Recently, Justin Baldoni partnered with Purina Dog Chow to help raise awareness for PTSD Service Dogs for veterans. Over on our sister site, Dog O'Day, we had the chance to chat with the actor, producer and writer about this partnership. Obviously, the majority of the chat was about Service Dogs and their importance for veterans, but we also asked him about other projects and himself. And while talking to him about the importance of his Dog Chow partnership, we also asked him about being a published author.
If you didn't know, Baldoni is the author of two books: Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity and Boys Will Be Human: A Get-Real Gut-Check Guide to Becoming the Strongest, Kindest, Bravest Person You Can Be. And while these topics might seem like they are for a very specific audience, they are truly important books in terms of how they approach gender and self reflection.
So what did Justin Baldoni have to say about being a published author and having two books out in the world for people to read?
Justin Baldoni reveals what it is like to have two published books for people read
During our chat about his Purina Dog Chow partnership, Justin Baldoni revealed how grateful he is for the way both of his books are being received.
"You know, it's strange. I've written two books. I've written one book for men and one book for boys. And it's very strange, because I remember writing it and having a lot of anxiety while I was writing it, because I felt like what I was writing was going to be in the world forever. And that means I couldn't change my opinion. I couldn't change my thought about it. So I felt like I was writing it in stone, you know, like a commandment, and that I could never reverse it. Or, you know, have the option of changing my mind or learning something or evolving my ideas. But I would say the cool part about it is that as my career grows, and as more people are introduced to my work, the book lives on and people are able to find it, and it's been a service to a lot of people. Both of them have and I'm very grateful for that."Justin Baldoni
Honestly, what he said makes a lot of sense. Once your book is written and published, whatever you have written is out there in the world to be judged. And even if you did go back to change something, there would always be copies of your book out there with your original thoughts and ideas.
Knowing how Baldoni feels about his work, it makes us even more likely to grab both of this books. We also appreciate that when thinking about what it is like to be a published author, he focused on how his book can help others.
