Heading into June, it's all about summer and having fun. Here at I Prefer Reading, we're all about reading romances to have fun.

That's why I wanted to share some of the best romance books coming out in June. While there are lists upon lists of new releases, there is something about a short and sweet list of titles to help keep you focused.

I don't know about you, but sometimes it's hard to even try to read 10 books, let alone more. Even so, I wanted to show some love to titles I've either read and recommend or romances coming out in June that I'm personally excited about.

Whether you're someone who is new to the romance genre, don't keep up with new releases, or just need a recommendation, we've got you covered for June.

These 6 romance releases from June are all must-reads.

1. Pardon My Frenchie by Farrah Rochon: Out June 4th

The first romance release we're recommending is one for my dog lovers. Pardon My Frenchie follows a romance between Ashanti and Thad. The two get off on the wrong foot as Thad comes to pick up his grandmother's dog from her doggy daycare. He vows never to come back but he soon realizes Puddin' is more responsibility than he can handle.

Meanwhile, Puddin' and Ashanti's dog Duchess become a viral sensation. This results in Ashanti and Thad spending more and more time together. Eventually, the attraction becomes too much but that's all I'll say for now. This one does feature grief as a theme in the story so make sure you can handle that before picking up Pardon My Frenchie.

2. A Love Like The Sun by Riss M. Neilson: Out June 11th

Skipping ahead to June 11th, this is a romance release that's going on my TBR. A Love Like The Sun is a romance between two best friends. It starts as fake dating as a way for Issac to help out Laniah's struggling business. Of course, things don't stay that way but honestly, this cover is stunning and I'm so excited to pick it up. I know that this one is going to be on my TBR and in my beach bag as well.

3. One and Done by Frederick Smith: Out June 11th

Let me start by saying that I almost didn't mention this book on my list but after seeing the cool posts by Steamy Lit, I had to. One and Done is a queer Black romance by Frederick Smith and it follows Dr. Taylor James who is on the pathway to becoming the first Black and openly queer university president. Then we have Dustin McMillian who is headed back to his hometown. If you couldn't tell, it's a romance between Taylor and Dustin who are both working towards different goals but could find themselves in a romance of their own making.

4. The Art of Catching Feelings by Alicia Thompson: Out June 18th

Moving onto another traditionally published romance release, we're talking about The Art of Catching Feelings by Alicia Thompson. Aside from having an utterly adorable cover, this book follows Daphne who heckles Chris, a professional baseball player. In a weird twist of fate, the two end up having to spend a lot more time together and even share an unlikely connection.

I don't want to give too much away about The Art of Catching Feelings as I've already read it. However, it is easily my new favorite from Alicia Thompson. If you're on the hunt for a good sports romance, you don't want to miss this one.

5. A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston: Out June 25th

Ashley Poston is one of those authors who needs no introduction. She made a name for herself in the YA space and eventually, moved to writing adult romances. Her 2024 adult romance release is another one with a magical twist. A Novel Love Story follows Eileen whose car breaks down and she ends up in a place that's really familiar. It's so familiar that Eileen ends up trapped in the town featured in her favorite series.

If you've read anything else from Ashley Poston, you'll know her adult romances have a slightly magical twist and it's clear A Novel Love Story follows that trend. Given how beloved The Seven-Year Slip was, I'm super excited to read the latest from her.

6. Taking Initiative by Elle M. Stewart: Out June 25th

In looking at NetGalley, I ended up finding Taking Initiative by Elle M. Stewart. This is a self-published romance and as far as I can tell, it's this author's debut. Following Jo and Felix who meet at a Monsters & Mythology game night, the two end up becoming friends and then eventually, more. I don't know about you, but I love this cover and think this is going to be such a cute read.
