Book Preview: Manner of Death by Cari Z and L.A. Witt is romantic suspense with a touch of chaos
When it comes to romantic suspense, it can be a bit of a challenge to find a book that delivers on both the romance aspect of the story and the suspense. Or at the very least, it often feels like these types of books lean one way or the other more often than not. But when it comes to Cari Z and L.A. Witt, that is rarely the case.
These two authors seem to understand the fine balance of romantic suspense and that is why whenever they have a new book for us, it is rather exciting. If you are looking for something new to read this summer, we have the perfect book to add to your wishlist (or that ever-growing TBR pile). Releasing on August 28 and available for preorder now, we have the latest from L.A. Witt and Cari Z, Manner of Death!
Manner of Death promises to give us some of our favorite romantic tropes, including one grumpy main character (MC) and one sunshine MC. We are talking about chaos, shenanigans, a serial killer, two men falling in love, and an assistant who isn't trying to let the romance happen. Honestly, the book sounds like it will have everything we expect from L.A. Witt and Cari Z and so much more.
Manner of Death by Cari Z and L.A. Witt is set for release on August 28
Want to know more about Manner of Death? Looking for something new to read this summer? Check out part of the blurb for the book shared on Amazon below.
"Detective Sawyer Villeray has his hands full. He’s got a mercurial partner whose personal life is deteriorating, a semi-estranged family whose drama he can never fully escape… and now a series of murders whose only connection is their sheer weirdness.
- L.A. Witt and Cari Z
A serious crush on the county medical examiner doesn’t exactly simplify things, but at least it’s fun.
Or, well, it would be if said M.E. didn’t adamantly refuse to date cops. Or if his assistant wasn’t quite so hostile to anyone who looked his way.
Dr. Bashir Ramin would very much like to catch a break. A date that isn’t interrupted by death. A fellow pathologist who isn’t a cranky jerk. A forensic assistant who doesn’t gnash her teeth any time Bashir is interested in someone. And maybe, if he’s lucky, an autopsy that isn’t such a baffling puzzle, it leaves him wondering if he’s as good at his job as he thought he was."
Maybe it is just me, but this blurb got me hooked already and I am ready for this one to release ASAP. I am all about romantic suspense with a touch of humor and that is exactly what I expect this book to deliver, especially based on this description of the book. Of course, it helps that I have read a number of L.A. Witt's books, as well as books by both authors.
I am here for new book news and this is no exception. Of course, if you can't wait for Manner of Death to release in August, there are plenty of other books on both authors' backlists that you can check out, including Hitman vs Hitman, Ride Share, and You Had One Job.
