Does Daydream by Hannah Grace live up to the Booktok hype?
If there is one thing we can count on when it comes to BookTok, it is that we are going to learn about authors we might never have heard of before this. That being said, there are some authors that end up going so viral on TikTok that they become pretty popular across social media. And Hannah Grace is definitely one of those authors.
The first time I learned about Hannah Grace was with her book, Icebreaker, which is the first book in her Maple Hills series. And while it was a good book, it wasn't necessarily my favorite. But when I read the blurb for book three in the series, Daydream, I knew I was going to give the author another read. I am so glad that I did.
I have been seeing a ton of hype on TikTok for Daydream in the lead up to the book's release on August 27. And then I got my own copy in the mail courtesy of Simon and Schuster, and I learned immediately why the hype is real.
Daydream by Hannah Grace is the kind of romantic read that feels so relatable
Not only does Daydream live up to the BookTok hype, I honestly think it might exceed it. This is not a dark romance, which tends to be exceedingly popular on TikTok. And instead, this is an overly romantic book. It is a love story with a leading man who has some of the most beautiful lines when it comes to his leading lady. And at the same time, this feels like a primer on how to come up with romantic experiences for future dating in real life.
But what really made this book so good is the storyline revolving around adult, female friendships. The most relatable aspect of the story is how Halle Jacobs struggles to make friends as an adult. But at the same time, there are these moments where we see how a relationship builds from the ground up and it feels perfectly written.
Daydream is a well-written romance that does an amazing job of giving us characters that we can connect with and fall in love with at the same time. And it really feels like Hannah Grace was able to get to the heart of how difficult building relationships can be as adults.
This is one of those BookTok books that is well worth the read, and will probably leave you wanting more. I know I wanted more and I may have to go back and reread Icebreaker and book two, Wildfire, all over again.
Hannah Grace's Daydream is a definite win in terms of the BookTok hype. And we need more books like this on our bookshelves.
