There are some romance books that you see and immediately you know you want to read them. For me, that was the case with I Accidentally Summoned a Demon Boyfriend by Jessica Cage.

While I originally saw this book on BookTube, I was reached out to by Kosi Harris PR about it so it felt like kismet. With that being said, I am a bit behind on this review as I Accidentally Summoned a Demon Boyfriend did come out on May 24th, 2024.

Aside from thanking Kosi Harris PR, I'd also like to thank the author: Jessica Cage for sending me a finished copy along with some goodies. If anything, that made me want to read this book even more and honestly, it's an incredibly fun time.

I Accidentally Summoned a Demon Boyfriend might not be your next beach read, but it'll be perfect for cooling off in the house away from the hot sun and prying eyes.

I Accidentally Summoned a Demon Boyfriend is a fast-paced romp.

If you couldn't tell by the title, I Accidentally Summoned a Demon Boyfriend is about Rayna who has been on a string of bad dates. After the last one, she gets drunk and ends up accidentally summoning a demon boyfriend. Since that seems highly unlikely, she ends up sleeping with him and the next day, thinks she's dreamt it all.

As readers, we know that she didn't and that's the catalyst of where the plot begins. From there, we're introduced to Metice who is a demon. While he does have some demon-like qualities including horns, he ends up being a much kinder demon than most would imagine. In particular, the way he takes care of Rayna when she visits his home is just darling.

Aside from the romance, the story focuses a lot on Rayna and Metice dealing with the forces that are trying to keep them apart. Since they do end up in Hell at one point, the author does a great job of setting up Metice, his backstory, and creating a more pleasant place than what Hell has been described as in the past. Either way, it's still hell so let me be clear about that.

Despite that, the romance between Metice and Rayna does blossom but these two are not without their ups and downs. This book is messy and chaotic but not in a bad way as Metice and Rayna manage to find some common ground. This is a romance after all so these two end up with an HEA but it does take some time for them to get there.

Since this is my first Jessica Cage, I don't have anything to compare it to but I thought it was fun, steamy, and overall a great read no matter what season. With that being said, I do think this would be a great read during Fall or the Halloween season. If you want to read it in summer like I did, then more power to you.

I Accidentally Summoned a Demon Boyfriend by Jessica Cage is out now.
