In January 2023, Prince Harry's memoir, Spare, was released to mixed reactions. And while we often see hardcover books being followed by paperbacks within six to 12 months, as of writing, it has already been well over a year and a half since that original release. It turns out that we finally have a release date for the paperback version of the book.
According to The Bookseller, on October 22, Spare will be released in paperback in the U.S., as well as in other countries around the globe. However we do have to note that the official U.K. release for the paperbacks will actually happen on October 24.
The new edition of the memoir will feature the exact same cover image as the hardcover, which means we will still see Prince Harry's face on the paperback version of the book. And of course, the inner material remains the same, so if you already own the hardcover, there is no need to purchase a new copy of the book.
Prince Harry's Spare gets a paperback release date after over a year and a half in hardcover
Obviously, there have been other options for reading the book, including ebook and audiobook versions. But now, people who either didn't want to commit to the hardcover or who want another copy will finally be able to grab the paperback for themselves.
The new printing will be available in multiple languages, much like the hardcover version of the book was. Although the paperback is currently only being released in 16 languages, versus the hardcover which was released in 37 languages.
If you are thinking of snagging a copy for yourself, you can always preorder the book so that it is delivered on the day of the release. On Amazon, the paperback of Spare is already available for preorder with a cost of $22, which is a $14 savings over the original hardcover price of $36 (although at the time of writing you can get the hardcover for $15.50).
Considering Spare "holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time," we can't imagine the paperback not doing well as well. And while we already own a hardcover version of the book, we might still snag a paperback copy for our shelves as well.
