Certain series grab hold of you and don't let go. That's the case with the Ruinous Love trilogy by Brynne Weaver, which is a compulsively readable dark romance. Somehow, despite the dark subject matter, Weaver manages to make them feel fun at the very same time.

Some might have been introduced to this series through BookTok, word of mouth or having the books catch their eye on a bookstore shelf. Regardless, this series is one of the most hyped and rightfully so. It is truly one of those series you'll fall into and not realize that you're already almost done with the trilogy.

Thankfully, the series has now wrapped for those wanting for the entire thing to be complete before picking it up. As someone who jumped on the hype train this year, I can confidently say that the Ruinous Love trilogy are some of my favorite reads of the year and ones I know I'll be revisiting in the future.

In honor of the series wrapping up and the fact that I've finally read all of them, let's rank the three books in the Ruinous Love trilogy by Brynne Weaver. I'd like to thank Zando for putting this one on my radar as I was able to find a series I truly loved.

Let's rank the three books featured in the Ruinous Love trilogy.

Before getting into the ranking, I'm going to try to steer clear of spoilers. While there might be some plot details discussed, this is going to be as spoiler-free as possible. If you want to know nothing about these books, then be sure to read them and come back.

3. Scythe & Sparrow

Coming in at the #3 spot is the final book in the series, Scythe & Sparrow. This is a book that I've read recently, so I won't get into too many details. Since it's the final book in the series though, Brynne Weaver made sure to wrap up every single romance and gives us a glimpse into the future. As Fionn and Rose's book, this is one that most of us have been waiting for. Due to that, it felt like this book fell a little flat in comparison to the first two. Overall, though, this entire series is great.

2. Butcher & Blackbird

This might be a shocker to some, but the second-place spot is going to Butcher & Blackbird. Maybe this is a controversial opinion since it started the series. However, the next book is one that really took my breath away and ended up becoming my favorite. With that being said, this book introduces us to Rowan and Sloane and the game the two are playing. While we meet the rest of the crew in this book, Brynne Weaver did an excellent job of setting up the series, its tone, and what we came to expect from the rest of the trilogy.

While this spot could be debated between Butcher & Blackbird and my top pick, Butcher & Blackbird was excellent, but didn't capture my heart as much.

1. Leather & Lark

Coming in at the top spot is book 2 in the series, Leather & Lark. This is a romance between Lark, who is best friends with Sloane, and Lachlan, who is Rowan's brother. These two don't have the best first meeting, but end up deciding to get married to help each other. This book is utterly swoony with how much Lachlan falls for Lark and how they learn to take care of each other. Additionally, these two do questionable things, but there is something about how they see each other that makes this book just the tiniest step above the first book.

The entire Ruinous Love trilogy by Brynne Weaver is out now where books are sold.
