Amy Lea is one of those romance authors who feels like your best friend. Maybe it's the way she writes or the stories she tells, but her writing just feels so readable to me and her characters always feel so real.
That's why I was excited to pick up Something Like Fate. I was sent an early and eventually, a finished copy of Something Like Fate by Megan Beatie Communications. Honestly, this title is one that I knew I was going to like as soon as I saw the cover and it's Amy Lea, so that's a given.
Honestly, this book would appeal to readers of all different kinds. Of course, it's for my fellow romance readers as the romance is so great. However, this book also focuses a lot on travel and the main character trying to figure out the best path forward for her. Unlike some of her other titles, this is a new adult romance.
The good news is that this one was published by Skyscape, which is one of Amazon's imprints, so this title is available to read via Kindle Unlimited with a Read and Listen option. You can also buy a paperback copy of the book for less than $15.00 on Amazon.
Something Like Fate is a romance for travelers and readers alike.
Those of you who love a magical twist will adore the plot of Something Like Fate. The story follows Lo, who is dealing with a slight problem. She's not getting a vision of "her one" as the rest of her family has, and it's become worrisome. Given the death of her mother, she has no one but her aunts to confide in until she finally sees pieces of a vision.
After she sees the vision, she becomes set on traveling to Italy as planned to meet her "one," but things don't exactly go to plan. Rather than going with one of her best girl friends, she ends up recruiting Teller. The two have been best friends for years, and it's clear from the start that Teller doesn't exactly see her as only a friend.
While things start off rocky for the two, Lo eventually meets her "one" named Caleb. At first, things seem great until she spills the beans about her vision, and Caleb bolts. For the reader, it's basically the green light we all see of Lo and Teller getting together. The two do end up spending some time together and eventually hook up, which ends up being a great experience for both.
There are truly so many ups and downs during this time including a surprise visit for Lo. It truly feels like a movie playing out before your very own eyes. While it might seem simple how the two end up together, Amy Lea took a different path than you might imagine, and I adored it. It was fun to see how things ended up working out.
While this won't be my new favorite Amy Lea, it's a solid one and definitely worth the read if you're a college student or have plans to travel this summer. It's fun, flirty, and the perfect read for bringing along to your next beach trip.
