There are certain authors who give off a cozy feeling and one of those is Tarah DeWitt. Going into The Co-op, I knew she was going to deliver.

While most were introduced to DeWitt through Funny Feelings, the first book I read of hers was Savor It which was published by St. Martin’s Griffin. Given that, I was excited to go back and revisit one of her older titles.

Going into The Co-op, I had no idea what to expect and frankly, I was surprised by just how quick and fun this story was. Coupled with the adorable new cover, it only made me want to go back and read more from Tarah DeWitt.

Enough about that as I’d like to thank St. Martin’s Griffin for sending me an ARC so I was able to read and review this one.

The Co-op is a character-driven romance you’ll adore.

While I mentioned Tarah DeWitt’s books being cozy, this one doesn’t start that way. If anything, it feels like a sign of things to come. We first meet our couple as LaRynn is dealing with some unsavory plumbing issues and from there, we get some backstory and find out how they ended up in this situation.

After the death of her grandmother, LaRynn inherits the building she lived in but the only catch is that she has to share it with Deacon. Of course, these two have a storied history full of tension, falling in love, and plenty of disappointment. Aside from all of that, the two have to find a way to make it work.

From the start, it’s clear the chemistry is still there as they can’t stop snipping at each other. In a way, it reminded me of You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle. Seeing these two go back and forth was entertaining. Eventually, they do come to understand each other but it’s only after they’re forced to get married.

These two do end up getting married and while it does take a while for them to stand each other, the pay-off is so worth it. Plus LaRynn is able to her inheritance so they can fix the building and make some decisions. Seeing them slowly but surely relearn each other is so satisfying and the way they compliment each other is brilliant. Honestly, it feels like there’s nothing Tarah DeWitt can’t do.

If you’re new to Tarah DeWitt’s stories or her writing, I think this is the best place to start. You get a taste of her writing and an incredible romance to boot. What more could you ask for?
