Are you looking for a different type of shifter romance? Do you enjoy Omegaverse stories with a gay romance? Then you need to check out this new series by Amy Bellows, which starts with The (Maybe) Murderer Who Knocked Me Up.
If you’re looking for something new and fresh in the world of shifter romances, and not the usual wolf shifters and dragons, then look no further than this raccoon-centric series by Bellows. Yes there are apparently other shifters in this world, especially since our second leading man is a bear shifter, but a good chunk of the story revolves around the raccoon shifters.
Set in an alternate version of our world, this story gives us an interesting look at what it might mean to be a raccoon shifter. It was so nice to have a different breed of shifter at the heart of the story, and then that doesn’t even take into account the storyline itself.
The (Maybe) Murderer Who Knocked Me Up by Amy Bellows gives us drama, shifting, some spice and romance
We learn about how raccoons find their mates, and we learn about bear shifter too (since our second MC is one). And we also have the drama of two men meeting in their youth and feeling this deep connection, who ended up separated by some really tragic circumstances. And the tragedy is one that has massive repercussions on both of their lives.
By the time our two men find their way back to each other, we also have a secret child. Basically this book has a little bit of everything. We have the secret baby trope, we have the innocent man convicted of a crime he didn’t commit, we have shifting and even male pregnancy. We really just have a little bit of everything and it’s done quite well.
There were definitely some moments in The (Maybe) Murderer Who Knocked Me Up that felt a little bit draggy. As in they dragged just a bit more than I would’ve expected from this author. But overall, this was a great start to a series, and it gave us something fresh in the form of raccoon shifters with a penchant for shiny things.
If you’re looking for something new to read in 2025, I highly recommend this book and this series from Amy Bellows. You won’t regret it.
