For decades now, R.L. Stine has been giving us books that creep us out, scare us, and generally entertain us. And over the last few years, a number of his books have been adapted into both movies and TV shows.
Perhaps one of his most iconic series has to be the Goosebumps books. And for season two of the Goosebumps anthology series on Hulu, we got a few different books represented, although Stay Out of the Basement was the primary inspiration.
While talking about his book series and the latest season of the series with Deadline, Stine revealed which books he might like to see adapted next. Although he did admit that at this point, he feels like they’ve already done his favorite books. That being said the author admitted that he would love for them to work on some of the newer books from the series that he has written.
Which books would R.L. Stine want to see adapted for the screen next?
According to R.L. Stine, “you know, I’m still going. I just signed on to write six more books, six more Goosebumps books. So I’d love to see some of the newer stuff.” He did specify that a newer book that recently came out called Goblin Monday is the one he would love to see adapted next, and it is also his first book about goblins.
Even if he didn’t want to narrow down specific books, we do appreciate the fact that he did at least name one title that he’d love to see adapted to the screen. The fact that it’s one of his newer books and it’s his first book about goblins is just an added bonus.
Considering how many books R.L. Stine has written, it makes sense that he might want some of his newer books to get more love. For many of us, the older stuff is what we grew up with, so we tend to give it more love. And of course, that’s where some of the more iconic characters come from. That being said, as he pointed out a number of those books have already been adapted and focused on. So, showing some love to the newer stuff that he has been writing is a great way to bring in fresh eyes, while also giving longtime fans a look at what he’s working on now.
Considering the Hulu series seems to be bringing in a lot of attention, we have hope that we might just see his newer books making it to the screen in some way. And hopefully his goblin book does get a chance to shine on the small screen.
