These announcements include Regretting You, Reminders of Him, and Verity. If you are an active member of the Bookstagram/BookTok community, chances are you have either heard of or read at least one book by Colleen Hoover—I mean, let’s face it, there are tons! If you were a fan of It Ends With Us and you were overjoyed by the casting of Blake Lively to play Lily Bloom in the movie adaptation, I have another exciting casting announcement to share! Deadline shared today that none other than Anne Hathaway has been cast to play Verity Crawford in the movie adaptation of Verity!
Verity follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is battling with a poor financial situation. When Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, appears in Lowen’s life and offers her the career opportunity of a lifetime, she can’t refuse. The deal is that Lowen will move into the Crawford’s home to sort through the works of Verity’s life to finish the series she had been working on before suffering a mysterious ailment. In a horrifying turn of events, Lowen discovers an unpublished manuscript written by Verity that features stomach-turning confessions, including the truth of her daughter's death. Faced with a moral dilemma of hiding the truth to save what is left of Jeremy’s sanity and letting him know what his wife was truly capable of, Lowen soon learns that this opportunity is not at all what she was anticipating.
According to the article by Deadline, the movie is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Michael Showalter, who also worked with Hathaway on the adaptation of The Idea of You released back in March. In an Instagram post by Colleen Hoover, she expressed her excitement about the casting news and said there will be more news to come soon.
