Romantic comedies might be my favorite movie category and there is no better month to watch them than February. If you’re a rom com enthusiast and want a fun read, here are some suggestions based off of some of my favorite movies.

If you like Notting Hill, read Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld

The celebrity/commoner relationship brought to life by Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts is echoed in Sittenfeld’s Romantic Comedy. When hot pop star Noah Brewster shows interest in Sally, a comedy writer on an SNL-type show, Sally can’t believe that someone so attractive and famous could possibly want her. It might work that way for men (Pete Davidson and any woman he’s ever dated, anyone?) but less attractive, less famous women don’t get to get with the A-listers. Right?

If you like 13 Going on 30 read In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

Dannie Kohan doesn't quite pull a Jenna Rink and wish herself seventeen years into the future, but she does get mysteriously thrown five years forward. For one hour, Dannie gets a glimpse of her life in five years, and she's not so certain it includes the dream job she's been working so hard for or the man who just proposed to her.

If you like Easy A, read I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston

If you’re craving a story set in the rumor-fueled ecosystem of high school, try Casey McQuiston’s YA novel, I Kissed Shara Wheeler. When it-girl Shara kisses Chloe Green and vanishes without a trace, Chloe embarks on a quest to find her. Her search takes her to all the areas of high school life she’s tried hardest to avoid: parties, football players, cliques. Full of unlikely friendships and queer joy, this book has all the humor, heart, and teenage anguish of Easy A.

If you like Anyone But You, read The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Christina Lauren (two best friends writing under one pen name) is (are?) one of my favorite romance authors out there. Kicking off with a disastrous wedding, The Unhoneymooners has the same enemies-to-lovers heat Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell brought to the big screen in Anyone But You. Throw in a tropical location, witty banter, and forced proximity (did someone say “just one bed”?) and you’ve got a book you’ll devour in a day.
