If you’re a reader who loves books that slowly tear your heart into lots of tiny pieces—hi, I’m the problem, it’s me—then look no further. In just 350 pages, Our Infinite Fates will make you believe in true love, sob for those who never get a chance to experience what life has to offer, and maybe even consider taking that trip you keep putting off because life is infinitely too short and the world is too big and beautiful to never see it.

This YA story follows Evelyn and Arden, entwined souls who are stuck in a dangerous loop—in every lifetime, they kill each other before their 18th birthdays and are reincarnated into a completely new life. From a soldier on the front lines of the war to the daughter of an emperor, Evelyn has seen it all, but never long enough to truly experience life. In every new life, she can remember that Arden is hunting her and will kill her before she enters adulthood, but she can still never save herself from falling in love with him. However, in her current lifetime, her sister is relying on her for a life-saving bone marrow transplant, which has been scheduled dangerously close to her eighteenth birthday. She knows she needs to figure out who Arden is in this life and convince him to let her live long enough to save her sister, but as memories resurface and new truths come to light, Evelyn realizes that after 1000 years of existence together, maybe Arden really has just been trying to save her from herself—and a much more dangerous fate.

Our Infinite Fates was truly such an incredible story. The storytelling was nothing short of brilliant and beautiful, and the way the past and present were woven together was incredibly captivating. Getting to read Evelyn and Arden’s story throughout time was both heartbreaking and healing at the same time. Although it felt like there was no hope at times with the knowledge that their story in that lifetime was coming to an end soon, I couldn’t help but be absolutely enchanted by the love they continued to hold for each other.

While I made an attempt at guessing the ending of this book, I couldn’t have been further from the events that actually took place. Laura Steven did such a great job of tying Evelyn and Arden’s story up into a sob-worthy little package that had me staring at the wall. From beginning to end, this book captured all of my attention and when I wasn’t reading, it was all I could think about.

If you’re looking for a devastatingly beautiful love story, please pick this one up. I don’t think I will ever stop thinking about Evelyn and Arden, and I will definitely be reading more books by Laura because she is an incredible storyteller.
