At the end of Assistant to the Villain, we watched as our favorite ball of sunshine Evie made a vow: to rescue The Villain - or become one trying. Judging from the title of book 2, Evie Sage is going to be embracing her dark side. And I for one, am curious as to what a sunshiney dark side even looks like. Will her special ink now be black with sparkles? Will she stop putting sugar in her cauldron brew? Will she start wearing the evil black eyeliner everyone thinks is hot? Thankfully, we will know the answers to these questions soon, as Assistant to the Villain comes out on August 6th!

Those very important questions about Evie's villain era aren't the only things I am worried about. As the King has captured our beloved (and sexy) Villain, I hope we get to see more of his point-of-view within the novel - especially as we wait for Team Evil to rescue him. The chapters from his point of view were always a delight in the first book, and I think with the readers knowing his history with the King, it'll provide a fascinating insight into how The Villain became a villain - and I fear for the treatment he will get while he's locked up. I'm sure I will probably tear up as we dig more into his backstory, and sympathize with his reasoning for destruction even more.

So with just over a month left until the book comes out, I have a few questions I hope get answered in this book:

  1. Who is Kingsley? Why does his curse include signs?
  2. Are Becky and Blade finally going to kiss? Or will she still be too distracted by all her HR paperwork?
  3. Who's job is to clean up the blood from all the severed heads they have hanging? Do they get extra benefits for blood cleanup?
  4. Will the dragon actually eat an intern now that he's growing? Or will they learn to run fast enough to avoid him?
  5. How will Evie save the Villain? Will they finally get together?

I hope to get all of the answers on August 6th, when I am sure I will stay up way too late reading past my bedtime. The countdown is on, and I am excited.

Apprentice to the Villain is available for preorder and will be released on August 6th, 2024. The first book in the series, Assistant to the Villain, is available now.
