Only bookworms can truly understand the anxiety that can be associated with finding out one of their favorite books has been picked up for the big screen. We obviously want to hope that the cast and directors will manage to bring it to life outside of our minds, but sometimes the artistic liberties taken during the writing process can cause some controversy within the book community. In any case, whether you are a romance lover looking for some new books to read or you are just a bookworm who likes to be in the know, here is a list of some major page-to-screen romance adaptations coming in 2025!

1. Beach Read by Emily Henry

Opposites attract in this rom-com about two authors who strike a deal in order to get out of major writing slumps. The deal: January Andrews—a romance author—will write a piece of literary fiction, while Augustus Everett—a literary fiction author—will write a romance novel. Featuring close proximity, rivals to lovers, and a whole lot of tension, Beach Read is a romance book you don’t want to miss—and just like its namesake, it is the perfect book to read at the beach!

2. It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

Piper Bellinger—rich it-girl with a passion for the paparazzi’s attention—is sentenced to travel to the small town of Westport and run her late father’s bar. Determined to prove her worth and capabilities to her step-father and the broody fisherman she can’t help but keep running into—and feeling attracted to—she must decide where she truly belongs. It Happened One Summer is a rom-com that is full of humor—expect no less from Tessa Bailey—spice, heart, and all the small-town vibes you could ask for.

3. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

The Love Hypothesis is a captivating story that follows Olive Smith—PhD student who doesn’t believe in love—and Adam Carlsen—a professor—as they navigate their way through dating—or rather, fake dating—in order to prove a point to one of Olive’s friends. If you are a romance lover who is obsessed with grumpy/sunshine, banter, tension, and slow-burn, this is definitely the book for you!

4. The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

Forced proximity, enemies to lovers, fake dating, AND grumpy/sunshine? The Spanish Love Deception has it all and does not disappoint. In order to keep her story about her American boyfriend going strong, Catalina Martin enlists co-worker—and workplace enemy—Aaron Blackford to travel with her to Spain to attend her sister’s wedding. Elena Armas is an incredibly talented rom-com author, and this book was nothing short of brilliant.

5. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Yet another rom-com featuring a trip to a foreign country, The Unhoneymooners is a hilarious rom-com that follows enemies Olive and Ethan, who find themselves on an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii after the rest of Olive’s sister's wedding party find themselves with a bad case of food poisoning. If you’re looking for a romance featuring forced proximity, fake dating, and enemies-to-lovers, be sure to add this one to your TBR.
