I have written before about my Disney Bookcation - and since doing so, I have been dreaming of doing it again. And since that's not on the cards for me right now, I have compiled a list of the best books to take to either Disneyland or Disneyworld. Whether you're eating a churro, need a break from walking, or standing in an extremely long line - these books will help make the Happiest Place on Earth even more magical.

1. The Wrath & the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh

This retelling of A Thousand and One Nights is captivating - so much so that I couldn't put it down! Shahrzad is out for revenge, the Caliph of Khorasan takes a wife every night, only to kill her the next morning. And one of the wives he chose? She was Shahrzad's best friend. She volunteers to marry the Caliph, determined to be the first woman to survive the night - so when she gets the chance, she can kill him. The story is full of tension, imagination, and curses - and the longer Shahrzad survives, the more she starts to believe maybe Khalid isn't as evil as she thought. Leaving her with the guilt of failing to avenge her dead friend.

2. Traitor's Masque: A Retelling of Cinderella by Kenley Davidson

Cinderella has never been one of my top fairy tales, even when it's the incredibly dark Grimm version of the story. However, Traitor's Masque takes what we know of Cinderella, and turns it into a spy thriller - where she's the spy! Trystan (our Cinderella equivalent) is sent to the ball by a mysterious woman who promises her a new life outside her evil stepmother's grasp, only for Trystan to fall into treason, political intrigue, and, of course, romance. It is a fun and unique way of looking at the classic fairy tale and is a strong first edition into what I believe is the best fairy tale retelling series out there.

3. Almost There: A Twisted Tale by Farrah Rochon

With the recent grand opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, it only feels appropriate we end this list with my only official Disney book: Almost There. This book reimagines the end of The Princess and the Frog - where Dr. Facilier makes a deal with Tiana to bring her father back from the dead, but in return, Naveen has to forget everything about their romance. What follows is a supernatural adventure, as the dead start to haunt Tiana, while the power Dr. Facilier took from his "friends on the other side" has a cost he struggles to meet. It's a dark supernatural look at New Orleans, giving us a glance at what might have happened, should Tiana have taken such a tempting deal.
