As the leaves begin to fall and the air turns crispy, we can surmise that autumn is upon us, and this means different things for everyone—pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters, spooky season, and for some of us, it is time to rewatch our favorite cozy comfort series/movies. One of my auto-watch series as soon as the weather starts hinting at fall is Gilmore Girls. With its small-town vibes, the unbreakable bond between mother and daughter, and the quirky townsfolk sprinkled in, Gilmore Girls is the perfect series to binge with a cup of tea—or a pumpkin spice latte if that’s your vibe—and a warm blanket. If you love this series and are looking for books that emulate the same feeling, or you are simply looking for some cozy small-town books with all the feelings, here is a list of three books you should be sure to pick up.

1. The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

A small-town with quirky locals, beloved coffee shops, and an obsession with fall festivals? Check, check, and check. With the bonus addition witches, this is a book that gives all the feels of Gilmore Girls with a fun magical twist. It also features a sweet romance with a sprinkle of spice, so what’s not to love? If you’ve ever found yourself watching Gilmore Girls and thinking a paranormal twist would make it EVEN better, then you should definitely add this to your fall TBR!

2. One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle

For readers who are looking for a book with a story that showcases the unbreakable bond between a mother-daughter duo, this may be the book for you. An Italian vacation following the death of a young woman’s mother leads to a mysterious paranormal discovery—she runs into her mom. This is a story that serves grief, hope, healing, and above all else, the neverending love that is shared between a mother and daughter. Heartfelt and shocking—in the best way—this is a great story for fans of Gilmore Girls who can’t get enough of the bond between Lorelai and Rory.

3. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Known as a classic and loved by readers across generations, Little Women is the story of four close-knit sisters who experience the woes of romance and poverty, the importance of friendship, and overall, holding onto the bond they cherish as sisters. Just like Gilmore Girls, this story focuses on the female perspective and shows the true ups-and-downs of family. If you’re looking for a story that will be sure to pull at your heartstrings and have you feeling everything possible, this is the book for you.
