Pumpkin Spice Latte season is here and they're starting to pop up at coffee shops all over the nation! And while Starbucks hasn't officially announced when it will be back on their menus, we know it's only a matter of time. But with these mugs of fall comfort, it's only right we have books to go with them! This list has a spooky read, a gothic read, and a cozy read - the three things I always think of this time of year. So grab a mug with a PSL, choose the vibe that matches your view of this iconic drink, and dive in and let your imagination soar!
1. The Ex Hex by Erin Stirling
Romance meets magic in this book by Erin Stirling. While there is a curse involved, this book is a comedy of errors, fluff, and full of the witchy goodness that always comes with fall. It's the perfect blend of fun and spooky, just like the pumpkin spice latte! And once you finish, there are two more books in the series (one that's coming out in October!) so you can keep sipping all season long!
The Ex Hex is available through HarperCollins Publishers
2. Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
If you are more interested in the dark spooky fall read, then Mexican Gothic is the perfect book for you! It is a fantastic way to show off how the gothic genre is still alive today - with the growing tensions, suspense, and descriptions that are sure to make your skin crawl. That being said, I recommend finishing your PSL before you get to the last 75% of the book - you probably won't want to consume any food or drinks during the big finale. You've been warned.
Mexican Gothic is available through Penguin Random House
3. The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
Advertised as a Hallmark movie mixed with cozy fantasy, this book is just so full of the same feelings people have the entirety of fall. The Spellshop is a celebration of gardening, harvesting, and friendship. This book feels like wearing a scarf and watching the leaves fall. I recommend you grab some friends, a bit of coffee, and enjoy this one together as a group.
The Spellshop is available through Macmillan Publishers.
