Did you know that May is Monster Romance Month? Well, thanks to BookTok it is (and now we know about it)! And we wanted to celebrate.

But how do you celebrate Monster Romance Month? How about by reading a variety of books and authors featuring monsters. Of course, there are a lot of romances that fit this description. From the smutty to the sweet, there are a wide range of books we can choose from for this particular theme.

In order to give fans of Monster Romance a variety of choices to pick up in May, we decided to check out some of the recommendations from BookTok, while also offering up some of our own favorites. So what are we recommending for Monster Romance lovers this May? Here are some of our recommendations for people who love something different with their romance.

Monster Romance Books to check out in May to celebrate Monster Romance Month

  • Games with the Orc by Kathryn Moon (This is the first book in a series)
  • Friends with the Monsters by Albany Walker
  • Hoarded by the Dragon by Lillian Lark (This is book four in a series, but I read this on its own and enjoyed it.)
  • How Not to Date a Demon by Lana Kole
  • The Monster's Den by Jillian West (This author actually has a few books that fit this theme.)
  • A Kiss From a Demon by Charlotte Swan (I actually bought this one from the author's TikTok shop and it is definitely spicy.)
  • Kissed by the Krampus by L. Eveland
  • The Sins of the Orc by Finley Fenn (This was an interesting read, and is the first in an Orc-ish series.)
  • Wolf Gone Wild by Juliette Cross
  • Echoes of the Tide by Emma Hamm (This is the third book in a series, but I have to say I enjoyed this one a lot.)
  • A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley
  • The Monster's Mate Series: A Monster Romance Anthology by Adrian Blue
  • Pheromone by C.M. Stunich (This is an alien romance, but I still felt like it fit the theme overall.)
  • Cair by Eryn Hawk (For me this was a four star read, and the next book is worth snagging as well.)
  • The Sea Monster's Mate by Delaney Rain
  • Bro and the Beast by L.C. Davis (This is a series that is basically written as a serial that is a meta look at the tropes we all expect in a paranormal romance.)
  • Court of Nightmares by K.A. Knight
  • Psycho Shifters by Jasmine Mas (This was a weird read, but somehow I couldn't stop reading it.)
  • The Centaur in My Valley by LV Vane (This author has a variety of monster romances to choose from.)
  • Grunge by Roxy Collins
  • Knotting Hill by Ami Wright (This is a cozy monster romance, so it is definitely on the sweeter side.)
  • Alpha Dragon's Tiger by Hawke Oakley
  • Smash & Grab by Maz Maddox (This is definitely a fun read and start to a gay romance series.)
  • Bonded by Thorns by Elizabeth Helen
  • How to Bite Your Neighbor and Win a Wager by D.N. Bryn
  • Manix by Grace McGinty (I really enjoy Grace McGinty's writing style, so I highly recommend her stuff.)
  • A Monster's Prey by Lylah Taylor
  • Their Lethal Pet by Lexi C Foss (This is a reverse harem monster romance and I have to say that I couldn't put it down.)
  • Twilight of Embers by Tessa Hale (This is a great series and this author draws you in with her writing.)
  • A Hellhound Called Derek by Michelle Frost

Honestly, there are hundreds of books that perfectly fit with the theme of monster romance. And it can be hard to narrow them down. So these are just a few of our suggestions, and quite a few of these authors have even more monster romances to choose from in their backlist. For even more monster romance, just searching that term on Amazon comes up with a number of options as well.

Bring on the monstrous reads!
